Yes, and it's also made using the best tasting coconut milk we could find. CocoVelle is made using predominately real, premium coconut milk, rich in naturally-occurring coconut oils which helps to achieve that naturally creamy consistency and fragrant tropical aroma. In fact, in each 260g bag of CocoVelle Chocolat and Originale, you'll find the milk of one to two whole coconuts respectively! The coconut milk is freshly pressed and carefully air-dried to remove all of the moisture, leaving behind a concentrated, fragrant and super-fine powder that dissolves instantly in warm liquid.
CocoVelle is delicious as both a hot and cold beverage. The traditional method of preparation makes a hot drink with a smooth cap of silky foam on top, similar in style to a cappuccino, hot chocolate or chai latte. Check out the FAQs below for details on both preparation methods.
The classic CocoVelle can be prepared hot in 3 different ways, depending on your available equipment. The standard dose in each case is 21g (around 3 heaped teaspoons) per regular sized latte glass or cappuccino cup. You'll need between 160ml – 200ml of your choice of milk.
Microwave Method
Quick prep for home or work- Heat ¼ of the milk in your cup.
- Add CocoVelle and stir till smooth.
- Top up with cold milk and heat to desired temperature.
Stovetop Method
The traditional approach- Gently heat milk in a saucepan till hot.
- Add CocoVelle to your cup.
- Pour in ¼ of the hot milk and stir until completely dissolved.
- Top up with the remaining hot milk.
Frother Method
Make it like a barista- Steam or froth your milk using a steaming wand or milk frothing machine.
- Follow steps 2–4 of the Stovetop Method.
Note: This method gives the creamiest consistency.
For a chilled CocoVelle, we recommend first adding a small amount of hot or warm milk, stirring thoroughly to dissolve completely and then topping up with cold milk, as you would when preparing a cup of cold cocoa or drinking chocolate. Adding a little warm milk first will help to completely dissolve the coconut oils and sugars so that you can enjoy a perfectly balanced flavour.
Just like coffee or drinking chocolate, the serving size depends on your preference for the strength of flavour and sweetness. At home we like to use 3 heaped teaspoons (roughly 21g) of CocoVelle with around 165ml of milk – and this is also what the majority of people we've asked also like!
We recommend that you start off with the suggested serving size and adjust the quantity of CocoVelle up or down until the desired flavour is achieved, taking into consideration the relative sweetness of your chosen milk type.
CocoVelle can be prepared with the milk of your choice. We recommend soy milk made with at least 14% whole soy beans for the best possible taste.
- Soy Milk: The preferred choice by the majority of tasters – even amongst those declaring a strong dislike for soy milk. Give it a shot just to compare!
- Cow's Milk: Full-cream milk is preferred as it complements CocoVelle's naturally creamy consistency.
- Almond Milk: Tends to be watery and mild, so we recommend adding an additional 15% of CocoVelle to boost texture and flavour.
- Coconut Milk: The strong coconut flavour can overpower CocoVelle's subtle notes, and coconut milks are typically very sweet, so you may need to reduce your CocoVelle dose.
CocoVelle can be prepared with water, but keep in mind that our recipe has been finely tuned for preparation with milk – which enhances CocoVelle's inherent nuttiness and naturally creamy consistency. Dilution with any amount of water will change CocoVelle's delicate flavour profile and reduce its characteristic creaminess. If preparation with water can't be avoided, you may like to add more CocoVelle to compensate.
A single 21g serving of CocoVelle Originale and Chocolat contain around 96 and 86 calories respectively. The calories in CocoVelle are mostly attributed to the naturally occurring coconut oils present in the coconut milk (rather than refined sugar). This is great news particularly for those who are health-conscious, because coconut oil is metabolised in a unique way making it directly available for use as energy rather than being stored as fat.
Originale and Chocolat contain between 40%–70% real coconut milk, which is itself made up of over 50% healthy coconut oils. That means that with each serving of CocoVelle, you'll be getting at least 6g to 10g of wholesome coconut oils beneficial for health and well-being.

Yes, CocoVelle contains natural sugars, but not all sugars are created equal. CocoVelle contains only the best quality organic, selectively sourced unrefined sugars, which contain all of their original molasses and retain all of their naturally occurring trace nutrients (between 60 to 70 of them). These molasses also bring a complex, well-rounded flavour with delicious hints of caramel, meaning we can get away with between 35–50% less sugar than leading hot chocolates, chai lattes and flavoured coffees currently on the market.
Coconut sugar is also known for being low GI (35, instead of 100 from refined sugar) to give you a slower release of energy rather than a sugar spike.
Although most of our ingredients, including our sugars and spices are indeed organic, CocoVelle is not a certified organic product. Our coconuts are sourced from different suppliers from around the world, and while most plantations utilise organic farming practices, some farmers have not yet received organic certification. As demand for organic coconut products increases, our suppliers are working closely with farmers to receive organic certification.
Yes, CocoVelle is gluten free.
CocoVelle Originale does not contain any coffee or caffeine so you can safely drink it after dark without the risk of a restless sleep. It also makes for a delicious creamy drink for kids!
While CocoVelle Chocolat does not contain any coffee, one of its key ingredients is cocoa, which contains a tiny percentage of naturally-occurring caffeine. Even so, as the caffeine content is extremely minimal and Chocolat has up to 36% less sugar than most other hot chocolates, CocoVelle Chocolat is still one of the least stimulating (yet best tasting!) hot chocolates around.
Yes, CocoVelle is 100% dairy-free.
Yes, CocoVelle is strictly vegan.
CocoVelle is an all-natural product with no artificial additives, allowing the naturally occurring flavours of each ingredient to shine. We've avoided artificial coconut flavourings which tend to have an overpowering "synthetic" coconut aroma. The use of real coconut milk, which itself is characteristically mild and delicate, imparts a mellow coconut flavour that's smooth, balanced and 'wholesome', as often described by tasters.
Under correct storage conditions, CocoVelle's shelf life is 12 months. After opening, we recommend using CocoVelle within 6 weeks. Based on a 260g pack with 12 serves per bag, that gives you at least 2 CocoVelles per week!
Similar to coffee beans, CocoVelle contains a high proportion of volatile oils which are susceptible to oxidation on exposure to air and moisture. To keep CocoVelle tasting as fresh as possible, store it in an air-tight container, away from heat, light and moisture, and always measure with a dry spoon.
No, there is no coconut flour in CocoVelle. The delicious coconut flavour comes from freshly pressed, premium coconut milk.
